Railings
Some of the character in your log home comes from the special features throughout. Railings, for example, can be a unique way to blend function and architectural style. There are several options to consider: Single rails, double rails or a hybrid system using metal spindles or glass panels. M & H has a standard profile of log railing that is hand-peeled and hand-crafted, giving a rustic and natural flare. All of our railing options work for interior lofts and stairs as well as exterior decks, balconies and porches.
Stairs
At M & H Wood Specialties, we use two main styles of stairs: Using full log, we form the main stringers and then notch treads directly into them. When using half log, we split the log and flatten one side which then forms the treads. The rounded side is the stringers. We can also customize stairs to match a client’s vision.
Post Caps
Log post caps are protective covers for log ends. They are designed to shield logs from weather damage and insects. They prevent additional checking, rot and deterioration. Simply put, they extend the life of your log posts and provide a finished, polished look that enhances the beauty of your log home. At M & H Wood Specialties, we create metal post caps in various sizes and client color choice which are then installed to fit snugly over your posts.
